Kansas Active Shooter Mitigation (KASM) – RUN, HIDE, FIGHT!

Thursday 2:55 – 3:55pm

Session Description

What are you going to do in the event of an active shooter situation?  Would you know what is happening? Do you have a plan? We’ll discuss the shooter’s mindset, behaviors to recognize, history of active shooter incidents, and options to consider for your survival.

Learning Objectives

  1. RELAX – We’re normal people. We just wear a different suit to work than you.
  2. FACILITATE A DISCUSSION – Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you never ask, you’ll never know.
  3. DEVELOP YOUR MINDSET – What are you going to do if an active shooter incident is happening where you are?

Trooper Tiffany Bush

I’m a graduate of Kansas State University.  I earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology.  I have been a Kansas State Trooper since July 2007 – just had my 14-year anniversary! Since being a State Trooper, I have been stationed in the Kansas City Metro.  I have been a Field Training Officer for 5 new troopers.  I was the agency’s recruiter from 2018 to 2020.  I was in the Public Resource Officer / Public Information Officer role in 2014 – 2015, and I have again been in this role since October 2020. As the PRO, I teach AAA – Driver Improvement Program, Kansas Active Shooter Mitigation, and Child Passenger Safety.  I enjoy teaching these programs because there’s a lot of misinformation out there, and I want to make sure our community is safe and prepared for any events they may come across.
